Regenstrief researchers share international conference stage

Malaz Boustani, MD, MPH, and Babar Khan, MD, MS

Regenstrief Institute research scientists Babar Khan, M.D., M.S. and Sikandar Khan, D.O., M.S., presented at the European Delirium Association at The Hague, The Netherlands – Madurodam on November 6-8, 2024.  

Dr. Babar Khan presented “Post-Intensive Care Syndrome: Risk Factors, Outcomes, and Development of a Population – Level Risk Score”  

Dr. Sikandar Khan presented “Clinical Trajectories Among Acute Respiratory Failure Survivors with Delirium in the US: A Real-World Experience”  

The European Delirium Association (EDA) is a professional association providing a platform for practitioners, researchers, policy makers and other interested to network for the benefit of patients. The EDA annual meeting is a global conference on delirium, covering state of the art delirium research and clinical practice across multiple disciplines. 

Sikandar Khan, D.O., M.S.  

In addition to his role as a research scientist and co-program director of the COVID-19 recovery program for older adults with the Indiana University Center for Aging Research at Regenstrief Institute, Dr. Khan is an assistant professor of medicine and director of the Indiana University Health Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Survivor Center.  

Babar Khan, M.D., M.S.  

In addition to his role as associate director and research scientist with the Indiana University Center for Aging Research at Regenstrief Institute, Dr. Khan is also a professor of medicine and the Floyd and Reba Smith Professor in Respiratory Disease in the Division of Pulmonary Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. In January of 2024, he was appointed the first chief of the newly created Critical Care Section – Indiana Critical Care Management and Recovery Program in the IU Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep and Occupational Medicine.
