Regenstrief Institute names chief financial officer

Deborah Lynn Stombaugh will join Regenstrief Institute as chief financial officer (CFO) on April 16, 2021.

In her new role, she will advise the president and board of directors of the institute on all matters pertaining to financial policy, manage the day-to-day administration and control of accounting, financial reporting and payroll functions as well as overseeing grants and contracts management.

“We look forward to Deb Stombaugh assuming her new responsibilities as Regenstrief Institute’s CFO and working with the leadership team to develop strategies for the institute’s financial future, maximizing resources and minimizing obstacles to success,” said Peter Embí, M.D., president and CEO. “She has a proven track record as a forecaster, planner, innovator and problem solver.”

Stombaugh previously held the positions of associate chief operating officer of Indiana University School of Medicine and, most recently, vice chair for clinical and academic administration in IU School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine. Additionally, she served on the IU School of Medicine Taskforce on Space, Assessments, and Long-Term Investments, the Eskenazi Medical Group External Compensation Committee, the IU Health Physicians Finance Committee and the IU Health Physicians Enterprise Alignment Transition Coordination Team.

Stombaugh holds a bachelor’s degree from North Park University in Chicago and a master of science in management from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University.
