Regenstrief Vice President for Research Development Eneida Mendonca, M.D., PhD, is playing a crucial role in the creation of a groundbreaking publication on artificial intelligence in healthcare from the National Academy of Medicine. The document is viewed as a reference for all stakeholders involved in AI and healthcare. Dr. Mendonca is a co-lead on the chapter considering the tradeoffs and unintended consequences of AI and a co-author on the chapter exploring the deployment of AI in clinical settings. She stresses the importance of carefully monitoring the uses and outcomes after AI implementation to correct any negative consequences and the adoption of general IT governance structures to manage AI.
