Regenstrief Board Member Honored with Prestigious Award

Regenstrief Institute board member Anantha Shekhar, MD, PhD, was named the 2018 Watanabe Life Sciences Champion of the Year during BioCrossroads’ annual Indiana Life Sciences Summit.

Dr. Shekhar is the executive associate dean for research affairs at Indiana University School of Medicine, founding director of the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, and distinguished professor and associate vice president of research and clinical affairs at IU. He also sits on the board of the Regenstrief Institute.

The Watanabe Life Sciences Champion of the Year award is presented to a person or organization that has made or enabled unique achievements in the development of the state’s life sciences and healthcare research, clinical, educational or economic advancement. It’s named after August M. Watanabe, the former chairman of BioCrossroads and a former leader of Regenstrief Institute.
