Local healthcare leader joins Regenstrief Institute Board of Directors

Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer for Indiana University (IU) Health, Christopher S. Weaver, M.D., MBA, has joined the Regenstrief Institute Board of Directors.  

A practicing emergency physician, Dr. Weaver brings extensive experience in healthcare leadership and operations. For IU Health, Dr. Weaver oversees quality, pharmacy, supply chain clinical decisions, integrated care management, clinical ethics and the work of chief medical officers across one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit health systems. He also oversees the IU Health Transfer Center, a centralized department that coordinates the transfer of patients between hospitals. 

Before joining IU Health, he served as chief medical officer and chief operating officer at Eskenazi Health, a large public hospital system in Indianapolis with, in addition to its downtown campus, a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites 

Dr. Weaver is a professor of emergency medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine, where his research spans healthcare administration, emergency procedural sedation and eye emergencies, with a focus on improving medical practices. He has also explored the impact of telemonitoring on reducing hospital readmissions and strategies for enhancing performance measures through quality improvements.
