We are delighted to nominate Rich Holden, PhD, for the One Regenstrief Award! It is particularly meaningful to highlight Rich’s commitment to fostering a workplace where people feel supported and valued, regardless of background. He is especially keen on mentoring and supporting folks from historically underrepresented groups in ways that go beyond paying lip service. He is an enthusiastic and insightful leader who is generous with his time, resources and connecting folks to his extensive network of collaborators. Rich approaches leadership with a fair perspective and a value-based approach, emphasizing Regenstrief’s culture and values in all his interactions. He contributes actionable, helpful feedback to projects, grant proposals and brainstorming sessions, fostering self-confidence and self-worth in colleagues. He is also great at connecting people to others who’ve worked on similar projects, funding mechanisms or overlapping interests. He is an unselfish colleague and tirelessly advocates for others — from nominating others for achievements to serving as a mentor on career development awards. He’s also a great problem solver who takes the time to develop an action plan that leaves everyone feeling supported and motivated to tackle the next steps with gusto. He also has an intellectual curiosity that makes science fun! We are grateful for Rich’s dedication to developing a creative, collaborative, positive atmosphere across the Institute while also demonstrating care and concern, especially today.
