Marjorie Rallins, DPM, M.S., has been elected to the Health Level Seven® (HL7®) International Board of Directors during the 37th Annual Plenary, Working Group Meeting and HL7® FHIR® Connectathon, in Phoenix, Arizona.
As a director on the HL7® Board of Directors, Dr. Rallins will provide insight for the continued development and maintenance of the HL7® strategic plan. She will also help in creating advisory groups and councils to fulfill liaison duties with partner organizations and ratify recommended appointments for representatives to those partners. Dr. Rallins will serve on the board from January 1, 2024, through December 31, 2025.
A nationally recognized leader in clinical standards and informatics, Dr. Rallins began her duties with Regenstrief Institute in January of 2021. She guides the Health Data Standards unit in stewarding LOINC® and UCUM (Unified Codes for Units of Measure) and serving as the focal point for data standards initiatives and policies across Regenstrief. She previously served as vice president and chief scientific officer of the PCPI® Foundation in Chicago as well as director of clinical informatics and business strategies for the American Medical Association. Her proven unique experience in clinical data standards, business development and thought leadership positions Regenstrief to continue facilitating healthcare interoperability across a broad spectrum of partners.
Regenstrief and HL7® have had an agreement to create a complementary process to develop and extend comprehensive standards in the healthcare industry since 2011. HL7® is a critical stakeholder and collaborator with Regenstrief and the data standards community.
At the HL7® work group meetings, attendees have opportunities to meet face to face to work on the standards as well as network with industry leaders from around the world. The international meeting also provides attendees with an educational resource for the healthcare IT community.
